High Hopes Blog Hop and Release!!

It's Blog Hop time!!! Are you ready?

For my project today, I am using one of the new Dustin Pike Dragons. This was supposed to be my Sneak Peek Day 2 project, but I didn't finish it in time so I posted the Candy Wrapper tutorial instead. 

I decided to make a scrapbook page today (it's been a long time)...

High Hopes stamps are the PERFECT images to add to scrapbook layouts. And this adorable "Firefighter Dragon" was the perfect image for this layout! The image is also great for birthday cards. Also being released this week is a coordinating sentiment called Go Ahead... which says "Go ahead...Light those candles...I dare you!" How fun is that? 

The pictures were taken at a Mom's Group tour of our local Fire Station quite a few years ago (2006). 

The sketch is from Scrapbook Challenge Sketch 244 which I turned into a two-page layout.

I'm also entering this in the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge - Scrap a Silly Moment.

I used some old K&Company DP, new Whimsy Banner Dies, and Mini Black Pom Pom Ribbon.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday - a sketch by me

Hello stamping and scrapping friends!

I know a few of you are waiting for an update on my doctor's appointment so here it is....

I have a spot on my Uterus that is "undefined" with a recommendation to "monitor it closely and come back for another MRI in 3 months". Then there was a growth on the cyst on my right ovary. Therefore, I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on Tuesday to remove my uterus and right ovary. They will biopsy the ovary during surgery. If it is cancerous, they will remove the left ovary. If it turns out to be another cysts or something benign, they will remove the left ovary as well. If I can keep my left ovary, it should prevent me from going into early menopause. The surgery is supposed to be laproscopic and I should be back and working in a few days. In fact, I should be released the same day. However, my mom is coming down from Georgia just in case. 

Therefore, orders will ship out either Thursday or Friday (my mom and husband will help with orders). 

I'm not expecting anything major coming out of the surgery, but I'm glad that I will finally be done with this once and for all!! 

Ok, so now it's time for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge.

Hello stamping and scrapping friends!

Yesterday was Ryan's birthday party!! Monday is his actually birthday, but we had his party last night. It was a lot of fun. Pictures (or another layout) will follow soon!! :-)

Scrap and Stamp Saturday - Sketch: Butterfly World

So did you have fun on the Wags 'n Whiskers blog hop yesterday? It's still open if you missed it!! 

Today it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. 

The challenge this week is a sketch...

I'll be honest, I was REALLY intimidated by this sketch at first. But then I figured out a great way to showcase a lot of photos and turned it into a double layout.

Here's my layout...

The left side sticks to the sketch pretty well except I moved the title section up. The right side is a flip of the sketch.

The papers are an older My Mind's Eye (MME). The stamp I used is one of the new Wags 'n Whiskers Fairies named "Laila".

Tip:

To get the pictures on the bottom layer, I attached 3 pictures side-by-side onto scrap cardstock. Then I hand drew the wave and cut it out with my scissors. I turned that layer over and drew it the wave onto the green layer then cut that out. So the green layer is an exact opposite of the photo layer.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday - "Open" Challenge!

Hello stamping friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned. 

We have a busy weekend with errands, a birthday party, and tutoring. I am going to have to make a trip to the post office as well to finish shipping out my orders. And, of course, there is the normal weekend chores. 

Also, Wags 'n Whiskers is having a release next friday with the sneak peeks officially starting on Wednesday, but I will have an early peek on Monday - so I have a lot of stamping to do to get ready for the release.

Here is my layout...

I used one of the new Greeting Farm Miss Anya Lounge stamps that were released yesterday. Ansley LOVES the Miss Anya collections so I had to break one out for this special layout!!

When Ansley lost her front teeth, she lost them one at a time over a 5 month period. So the other 3 teeth started to come in before she lost the last one. So this was the only time I could get the true "toothless grin".

The sketch is from Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 219 which I added a 3rd photo.

The paper is MME Bloom and Grow. I stamped on the top right and bottom left corners with "On the Edge" stamp Stampology, then added a Prima swirl.

Miss Anya Lounge (one of 3 images in the set) was embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os...

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge: Embossing

Hello stamping friends!!

Well I think the black cloud that was hanging over my head the past week is finally going away! After my PC broke, my store website went down twice, my wireless went down for a short time, and my car broke, I've had two good days with no major issues! I think I'm on the mend!! LOL 

But I am looking forward to the weekend!! By the time this posts, I am hoping to still be asleep in my comfy bed having wonderful dreams!! *Sigh* I love to sleep in!! And since my husband was out of town for 3 days and is now home...I have earned the right to sleep in this week! That makes it even better!!

So, now it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!! I am really impressed that I made 3 layouts this week! I am really starting to get faster with scrapping and it is so much fun going through the kids old photos!! 

This week's challenge is: Embossing!!

That can be heat or dry embossing. 

DT Paola created an awesome tutorial on creating custom dry embossed embellishments to add to a layout (or card for that matter). So make sure to check it out on the challenge blog!

They offered to send us a digi to use on our layout. I had a hard time choosing since they have so many sassy and fun stamps! But, considering I mainly scrap my kids, I needed to choose one of the more conservative digis (if you know what I mean)! But that wasn't a problem...they have an adorable line of Princesses, too! And I found one perfect for a layout...

Now, I would normally have used "heat embossing" for my choice in embossing, but since I used a digital stamp and not a rubber stamp, I had to add a dry embossed element to stay with the embossing theme. 

This stamp is called Little Honey's - Princess Aurora Honey 

These pictures are from our first time having a Character Meal with the Disney Princesses at Walt Disney World. These pictures were taken in 2005 when Ryan was about 6 months and Ansley was 2 1/2 years old. Oh so she was excited to meet the Princesses! And Sleeping Beauty was her favorite one for a long time. 

Of course, living only 3 hours away from Disney World, we have gone to Disney often since then and have had Character meals almost every time. Although, I think we may be growing out of that phase.

Can you see the smile on Ansley's face in the top right photo? She was soooo excited to meet Sleeping Beauty!! That smile is genuine pure joy!!

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge: Numbers

Hello stamping friends!! I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far! I sure am ready for the weekend to begin!!

As if loosing my PC on Wednesday and my website's server for the store went down on Thursday for 4 hours, friday night the internet connection went down for the laptops as well!! After 30 minutes on tech support, it was an easy fix - I'm just tired of so many different non-related computer issues 3 days in a row!!

And on top of that, my son came home on friday asking what my teacher said when she called to tell me that Ryan bit another boy at school!! Well the teacher didn't call, so I don't know if she will call later or if she thinks she handled it at school already! What I got from Ryan (who was very remorseful) was that a boy in his class is always bothering him and he kept touching Ryan today and tickling him. So Ryan bit his finger when he tried to touch Ryan again! Then is sounds like he went to the Principle's office!! Great! Again, I am only going by this from his side of the story since I haven't received a call or a note yet! 

Ryan says this boy is always getting into trouble so I can only hope that Ryan was pushed past a point of reason instead of just a malicious bite! But we have told Ryan that he will write a note to his teacher and the boy apologizing.

So do you see why I'm ready for this week to be over?! Ug!!

Therefore, let's move on!!

I used some Basic Grey Olivia 12x12 paper including some of the die cut stickers and embellishments, PTI Butterfly stamp set (some butterflies are cut out added buttons and added with dimentionals), some punches, "Ansley" personal stamp (I bought at a craft fair when she was just an infant - before I ever knew about the stamping and scrapbooking world!!), lace, Prima Swirls, and Thickers chipboard letters.

The stamped image is Apple Emma by CC Designs...

 
The image is embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.

I did a lot more layers on this layout with the embellishments than I normally so, and I think it turned out ok. Sometimes I love the look, but can never achieve it on my own.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge - Multiple photos

 

I am so late with my layout today! Since monday is a holiday, I wanted to get as many orders to the post office as possible since there won't be any mail on monday. And I was packing orders all day yesterday as well so I didn't get to finish my blog post until now.

Ok...so it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. This week's challenge is: Use multiple photos!

Since I have a ton of photos to scrap, that wasn't a hard thing for me to do!

I have a digital stamp from Digi Doodle that I will use for a card later. I had already created my layout before it was offered. But their images would make a great layout, too! Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to use it for the post today.

I know I promised pictures of the first day of school. Since it took me so long to download the pictures, I figured I should just use them in a layout instead! Of course, I still need to show you Ansley's first day of school pictures, too.

 

The layout is from Creative Scrappers this week (sketch 119) for the right side. The left side is a mirror image of the layout.

I used SU Kraft CS for the base. I created the black lines with a pen (they are straight, just the photo of the layout is crooked). I used some Basic Grey Oliver DP, clips, buttons, and Tim Holtz Adage Ticket. The stamped images are from the new High Hopes release and the corner is one of the On the Edge stamps from Stampology.

My handsome boy!! He did such a great job on his first day of school. No tears (for either of us)! I think we prepared him enough and made such a big deal out of it. Plus he was "graduated" to Kindergarten during summer camp and at church as well before school started. So he was ready to be a Kindergartener! And since we prepared him so well, I think I was prepared as well!! LOL

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge DT - Faux Buttons

The layout for the left side is from Scrapbook Challenges sketch 214.

The kids always have a great time seeing the characters! 

I used some EK Success Disney Paper and bottlecap embellishments along with some Glittler Thicker alphabet titles (to make "Disney" and some from my stash for "Say Cheese"). I've had the Mickey ears buttons for ages.

I also used some of the EK Success Mickey Mouse clear stamp set embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os... 

The black portions are heat embossed. The yellow, red, and face were colored.

Here is a close up of the handmade buttons I created...

I stamped the Mickey Mouse head onto white CS, punched it out with 3/4" circle punch, punched out a 1" circle in blue and yellow CS, then added glossy accents. Then I punched holes and added stitching.

While I was working on the layout, I used some of the same supplies (and a different Mickey stamp) to create a coordinating card..

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge DT - My Favorite Things

 

It's saturday (yay) so that means it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!!

Did you enjoy the Wags 'n Whiskers blog hop yesterday? We all had a great time and are so thrilled that everyone enjoyed our little sweet fairies.

If you follow my blog on a regular basis, then you may notice that I am using Hannah for the 2nd time today, but that I have not used Angelica yet. I promise that I have used her! And it may be my favorite project from the whole release!! But you will have to wait until Monday for my Magical Monday Challenge card. But here's a peek at the image...

Ok...so this week's Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge is: My Favorite Things.

The rules were basically to interpret that anyway you want. Many of the DT actually scrapped a layout with the title "My Favorite Things". I went with a little different approach to this challenge. I used some of my favorite things in a regular layout.

Here's my layout...
"I believe in fairies".

My favorite things:

1. My kids - actually only my daughter is in these pictures - Ryan wouldn't go NEAR the fairies - he's shy around the "girl" characters.

2. Friends - the other two girls in the layout are Zoe and Danni Fairbairn (daughters of my Wags 'n Whiskers partner Nikki from England who came to the USA in May for a visit).

3. Fairies and Butterflies - two of my favorite images

6. Ribbon - I LOVE ribbon, especially cute pink bows!!

7. Disney World - "the happiest place on earth"...except that my husband and I are always stressed out during trips to Disney - mainly because of the heat and the crowds. We actually tell each other in the car while parking "it will be a hot day", "the kids will whine", "there will be long lines", but it's going to be a good day anyway!! LOL And we actually have started telling the kids (in the car before we park), "No, I'm not holding you all day", "No, you can not buy that", and "Yes, I know it's a long line"...but we're at Disney World!! :-) Gosh, now I want to go back!!
Yes, those photos really are that bright!! This is the new "Pixie Hollow" character meet and greets at Toon-Town at Disney World. They walk you down a hallway, tell you that you will be sprinkled with Pixie Dust so that you will shrink to the size of a fairy so you can meet Tinkerbell and her friends. Then optical lights dance around the room!! (just in case you were wondering how they explain to the little girls that Tinkerbell is the size of a women)!! LOL
I used a Stampin' Up flower stamp (Fifth Avenue Floral) on the background. Then used some Basic Grey DP. The back pink and the green layers are from Olivia and the polkadot layer is from Sugar Rush.

Other products used: Basic Grey Chipboard letters, Prima rhinestones, Wrinkled Pink Ribbon, Bow Easy, Pearls, and Diamond Stickles.

Tip: If you don't have enough paper for a double page layout, cut the paper out from the areas that will be covered. This allows the appearence of a full sheet...

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge - a Sketch

Hello stamping friends. I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far!! It's been a busy week. Next week was the last week of Summer Break!! It's been a challenge to run the store and still help the kids have a fun summer. So only one more week before the kids go back. I'm sad it's over, but glad that I'll have more time to work without getting interrupted. Hopefully now that both kids will be in the same school, I can plan my work day so I can give them better attention when they get home.

I'm sorry for the glare on the shot. It was getting late and I had to take the picture in a different spot so I ended up with a glare. There are digital pictures at the end of the post without the glare.

These pictures just make me smile!! The kids were playing and my husband took these pictures. This is so Ryan! 

I added some stamped tickets along the side using Ticketed by Stampology...

Other stamped images are this cute "Max" from The Greeting Farm (all TGF stamps are still on sale through Sunday) and I stamped Sanded background stamp (Stampin' up) onto the chipboard letters. 

 

I also added some Champagne net and brown gingham ribbon.

This one didn't make the layout, but is still shows Ryan's personality!!

Here's my layout...

Slip 'n Slide at Hammock Beach! These pictures were taken over the 4th of July weekend when we went to the beach resort with friends. This is such a fun place so if you are in need of a wonderful beach resort (3 or 4 bedroom condos) in the St. Augustine Florida area, just go a little farther South to Palm Coast and stay at Hammock Beach.

Anyway, the layout is from Scrapbook Challenges sketch 211. I just copied the sketch to a 2-pager so I could scrap both Ryan and Ansley's trip down the waterslide.

Ryan was a little hesitant about going down the slide by himself. But he finally managed to get the courage and he had so much fun! In fact the past two weekends we went to pools with waterslides and I couldn't get him off of them!!

Here's Ansley...

Ansley is our little "Thrill-seeker". She loves anything exciting. She likes to hold her hands in the air on roller coasters...and scream at the top of her lungs! She has an ear-piercing scream, too!!

I used an old Stampin' Up polka dot wheel on the background randomly stamped in Bahama Breeze onto Sage Shadow CS. The DP and alphabet stickers are from the new Oliver 12 x 12 from Basic Grey. I think I mentioned how much I love this paper!! And these two were perfect for this layout!
Other stamps I used are Miles Mouse from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday - Paper Piecing

Hello there stamping friends!! Well, it's finally Saturday and as you read this post, I am packing up and driving back home on the 5 hour drive from Jacksonville, FL to "home" in South Florida. It has been a lovely vacation! I didn't take a ton of pictures this time, but I do have enough for the memories of our trip. I also just noticed that I have just recently pass the 200,000 hit mark on my blog!! How very exciting. So make sure to stalk my blog for some upcoming Blog Candy!! However, I am going home to have friends come into town so I may not be able to get the blog candy posted right away...so much to do to get caught up and only a few days that I have to "work". 

I am so grateful to my husband who has held down the fort while I was away. He got almost every order mailed out already!! He even tackled some orders with ribbon! I'm so proud of him. He did have a very busy day the past two days so there are few larger orders that haven't shipped out yet. But besides those, the rest are "in the mail"...so to speak.

Here is my double layout... 

The sketch is one from Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 209. 

I used some retired Stampin' Up papers to create this layout. I love these papers and they are perfect for these pictures.

These are pictures of Ansley at "Horse Camp" from the other week. She was so excited to go to Horse Camp for the first time. It wasn't a sleep away camp, just a local camp that taught her about riding and caring for horses. 

Here's the left side...

The girls in the camp participated in a "horse show" on the last day. Ansley was the 2nd youngest girl in the camp. Most of the girls were at least 10 years old and have participated in other camps or in riding lessons. This was Ansley's first time. They broke the 8 campers into 2 groups of 4 and Ansley won 3rd place in her group...which I think is awesome considering this was only her 2nd time actually riding a horse.

Ansley was very "determined" and focused while riding. I almost didn't think she was having a good time since she looked so serious. But after I got the photos developed, I noticed that she has a little smirk on her face in almost all of the photos...she was having fun...but wanted to stay focused!!

The stamp on the layout is actually designed after Ansley by our artist Cris de Lara. The stamp is named Magical Friends. I embossed the image onto watercolor paper and colored all except her overalls with Twinkling H2Os. Then I stamped the image with black staz-on onto some MME glitter paper, cut it out, and glued it onto the image.

The title was die cut with some Sizzix/Stampin' Up alphabet dies using some SU Chocolate Chip DP.

The journaling was typed on the computer.

This is "Princess". Ansley was so excited when she was allowed to ride Princess. She that is the name of our dog, she really wanted to ride her. But since she is one of the largest horses on the ranch, she had to "earn" the chance to ride her. She did so well with her and I am so proud of Ansley!!

Hello stamping friends!!

It's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!!This week's challenge is: Buttons!!

Here is my layout from out recent trip to Palm Coast, FL for the 4th of July weekend..."Ice Cream is better with friends"

I have blurred out Ansley's friend's name since it mentioned where she lives.

While at the beach resort, the kids wanted icecream one day. I have to say that our friend is probably the messiest ice cream eater EVER!! LOL So I had to take a picture of course(*wink*).

I used the sketch "scrappy0710a" (flipped) from Scrappy Sundays at Papercraft Planet.

I used some of the new Basic Grey Olivia 12x12 paper pack along with a few punched circles and alphabet stickers from the BG Oliver set (I wanted the blue color to balance all the pink).

I embossed Wags 'n Whiskers Summer Treat in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored it using Twinkling H2Os...
Isn't that image perfect for this layout?!

I added some Basic Grey buttons (not sure which ones since my stash is all mixed up)...

You can also see some circles stamps in the background to tie in the circle them of the punched circles, buttons, and polka dot paper. The stamp is a retired SU set.

So you can get the full affect of the messiness of our little friend, here is a digital picture taken directly from the camera...
Messy girl, huh?! But we still love her!!

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - The Many Faces of Ryan

 
Welcome back stamping friends!

It’s time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge! This week we have a great challenge for you. It’s not one I would do often without the nudge of a challenge!

This week’s challenge is: Use Black and White or Sepia photos!

When I saw this challenge, I knew exactly which pictures I wanted to scrap…

 
I took these pictures a few years ago when I just got my Canon Rebel Digital camera. I took Ryan and a boy that I babysat to a neighborhood playground. I just followed them around and took over 100 pictures!!  I got some wonderful shots. I turned a few pictures black and white and hung a few in Ryan’s room. I thought it was a good sample of “The many faces of Ryan”.

I always thought that Ryan was “animated”. When he was happy, he was ecstatic! When he was mad, he was angry! But he was also very sweet and playful, too!

 
So when it was time to work on this layout, I waited for my new Basic Grey Oliver and Olivia DP to arrive! These papers are from Oliver. I also used the coordinating stamp set, metal clips, and buttons.

 
You know, there are some products that I use a few sheets, but don’t care for others…not with this line. I love them ALL!! I used the 12x12 pack, but I also carry the 6x6 paper pads as well (which has slightly smaller images).

The blue and green letters in the title are alphbet stickers from the 12x12 pack. The wood letters were given to me by a friend. 
The sketch is from Creative Scrappers. I fell in love when I saw it and knew it would be perfect for this layout. A great layout to allow the Black and White photos to be the focal point, with just a splash of color from the strips of DP!

I will be honest, this isn't the best picture of Ansley...but it's her school picture so that is what I am scrapping today. I think she was sick on the day this picture was taken. I remember getting the picture back and saying "wow, she really was sick that day". I think she got sick later that day.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - Use Paint

Happy weekend!! Yay!! I can not tell you how glad I am that it is the weekend!! I had a crazy week and I am exhausted!! 

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the Wags 'n Whiskers blog hop yesterday! It's still going on until tomorrow, so if you haven't hopped along...you still have time!

Now it's time for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!! And I am so happy to say that Regina is back!! I didn't mind covering the challenges...but this week we have a tutorial on the blog (make sure to check it out) so I am so glad that I didn't have to do that post!! LOL

So let's get to the challenge...

This week's challenge is to use paint. The Design Team used paint on their layouts in many different ways. Jowilna created a paint resist tutorial...so go check that out on the blog. I used crackle paint on chipboard.

Here is my layout...

First off I have to say that this stamp I used, Beach Bum Miles from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, is PERFECT for this layout!! When I saw this stamp from this release, I just knew it was time to scrap these pictures!! I have closer shots of these pictures below.

Anyway, last summer we stayed over my Brother-in-law's house while we were in town closing on our house. The kids and I spent a lot of time at the pool and the beach. So by the time these pictures were taken, Ryan had a nice tan going. He really tans quickly. So...Uncle Marc started a game of throwing the kids in the air. Every time he threw Ryan, his pants would fall down!! I finally got these pictures!! So cute!!

Here's Beach Bum Miles...he is embossed in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os...

Here's a close up shot of the chipboard..

I inked up the chipboard with Turquoise ink then added Clear Crackle Paint. After it dried, I added more ink and also some chocolate chip ink to bring out the crackle a little better.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - Scrap someone who inspires you

Yay!! It's the weekend!! My VERY busy week is now over :-) 5 releases and 4 blog hops was a lot to keep up with! But I made it through. Next week there will be a new Wags 'n Whiskers digi release AND the new Whiff of Joy City Girls 2 releases on friday, June 25th!! I have the new WOJ stamps already in stock :-)

But now it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!! This week's challenge is a special one...

Scrap someone who inspires you!

There are so many people who inspire me. There are stamping and scrapping inspirations, there are world leaders, Jesus (of course), and lots of friends. Then they are 3 very special people: My mom, my father, and my husband.

It was too hard to choose which one to do, so I went with the first one that I had a picture of!! That took out the stress of picking one :-)

This is my mom and I on my wedding day (obvious...I don't always wear a tiara...although I would like to think I am entitled to one!! ROFL)!

I inked up the Kraft background with SU En Francais background stamp, added a SU whisper White CS punched with one of the Martha Stewart punches, then some MME DP.

I stamped the bird from the Sing to the Lord set from Our Daily Bread Designs in chocolate chip ink onto Kraft CS then cut it out...

I added a die cut circle from Websters Pages, Prima swirls, Primas and ribbon.

For the title, I used some Thickers glitter chipboard stickers...

The rest of the journaling was created on the computer is says "...to be the best Mom, Wife, Friend, and Person I can be!"

High Hopes Sneak Peek & Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge

 

Happy Saturday!! So are you ready for a sneak peek of one of the new High Hopes release?! I have used one of the new images for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!

This week's challenge is: Used Mixed Alphas!! Use different styles, colored, stamped letters, die cut letters, chipboard letters...just mix it up!!

Here's my layout...

This handsome man is Ryan and he just graduated from Pre-K! He is officially a Kindergartener now!! Wow! My baby looks so grown up!!

The sketch is from Pencil Lines.

The awesome High Hopes image is called "Boy Graduate" and will be available on Monday morning! There is a "Girl Graduate", too!

The image was embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.

For the Scrap and stamp Challenge, I used 3 different styles of chipboard letters by Stampin' Up along with some American Crafts "Thickers" (glitter chipboard stickers).

 
Some quick details...

I used SU "Sanded" background stamp (retired), The Greeting Farm "Spotlight Kit" (arrow and sentiment), black ric rac ribbon, Twill ribbon, black brads, and Tim Holtz Adage Ticket.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - The little Naked Cowboy

Hi there stamping friends! I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far.

Today is another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge!

Before we get to my layout, have you heard about the infamous "Naked Cowboy" from Time Square in New York City? Here's the Wikipedia discription of the Naked Cowboy. But basically, he stands in Time Square every day in his Cowboy boots and underwaer with a guitar! If you've been to NYC, you've heard of the Naked Cowboy!

Anyway, here is my Little Naked Cowboy...

 
Don't you just want to pinch his buns?! LOL So, when Ryan was in the 3 year old preschool class over a year ago, they had a Western-themed Open House. It is a lot of fun. Anyway, I told Ryan to try on Ansley's old cowboy boots to see if they fit him (they were actually boys boots, but I bought them for Ansley a year earlier). I can't remember why Ryan was only in his underwear when I told him to try on the boots, but after he put them on, he decided he wanted to play in the back yard...with his boots and underwear!! Of course I grabbed the camera because who couldn't resist it?!!

Here's a closer view of the pictures...

In case you are wondering...he's wearing Diego briefs (Dora the Explorer's cousin).

The DP is an old retired Stampin' Up set that I horded!! I have a few pictures from birthday parties and Western night that I still need to scrap and these pictures are just perfect.

Half of the title is stamped using a retired SU alphabet set. And "Cowboy" is SU chipboard letters that I stamped with SU retired "weathered" background stamp and inked up the edges.

The image is from Wags 'n Whiskers called Ride 'em Ryan and was designed by Crissy Armstrong for Ryan. I embossed the image in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os...

The image actually is a mini card that opens up to reveal the journaling...

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - Flowers

It's time for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge! Yesterday I gave you a little sneak peek of my layout. I had to combine the Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge with the Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge since I just ran out of time!!

This week's Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge is: Flowers! There is a wonderful tutorial on the blog how to make felt flowers.

Here is my layout...
I scrapped pictures that were taken last weekend when Nikki, my fellow Wags 'n Whiskers Co-Owner (from England), came to my house for a visit! Our families went to the beach and we had a wonderful time!!

The title reads..."Deerfield Beach with friends from Across the Lake" and what a mighty "lake" the Atlantic Ocean is!! LOL

The left side...
Nikki's 10 year old daughter Zoe is in the pink bathing outfit with the braids. My daughter Ansley is the other girl and my son Ryan is enjoying the warm clear water.

The right side...
The girl in the other pink outfit is Nikki's 5 year old daughter Danni. As you can see Ansley kept hugging them the whole time!! LOL And I was even brave enough to add a picture of me and Nikki!! Nikki's husband was given clear instructions that to take the picture from the chest up!! No big hips allowed!! LOL

For one of the stamping elements for the SSS challenge and for the Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge, I used "Water Babe"...

Embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.

I made a few handcrafted flowers out of a scalloped circle punch, ink, and American Crafts Pearl Brad...

For another handcrafted AND stamping piece, I created puffy clouds...

I stamped the clouds from High Hopes Rubber Stamps (I need to remember to carry this in the store). Then I added some White Fun Flock and a little glitter. I layered two clouds together with dimenional tape.

I also created a custom "Epoxy sticker" title using die cut coasterboard, Shimmerz Spritz, and glossy accents...
That's it for now! I will have to edit this post later with links to the products. But right now, I am scheduled to wake up in 5 hours to get ready for our trip so I have to run...

Scrap and Stamp Saturday DT - Scrap a Birthday

Happy Saturday!!! I am looking forward to my weekend!! We have some fun things planned with my Wags 'n Whiskers co-owner Nikki and her family!! It looks like it will be perfect weather, too!!

This is Ansley's first birthday. I have a ton of more pictures, but just didn't have the time to finish it so I'll have to save it for later.

Do you like Ansley's black eye? She was actually sick on her birthday with an ear infection. So the day before her birthday she had to stay home from daycare. Scott stayed home with her this time and she tripped while learning to walk and banged her eye against a piece of furniture. Mommy was NOT happy when she came home from work!! Of course, not that we've had two trips each for both kids...what's a little boo boo, right?!

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge DT - Ribbon

Yay!! The weekend is here! That's something to "cheer" about!!

It's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. This week's challenge is: Ribbon.

Ribbon!! Easy, peasy, right?! You would think so...but I over-thought the process, papers, stamps, and pictures...changed my mind a gazillion times...so I ended on settling for a large thick satin ribbon!! So many possibilities and I went with "simple"...after spending days reworking my total thought process!! LOL

And here is the final result...

This past fall, Ansley took Cheerleading after school once a week. They don't have sports team, it was just cheerleading for fun. So at the end of the season, they had a program at a local High School gym to show their routines and cheers to the parents.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the ribbon is satin centered-reversable ribbon. The photo below may show it a little better. It at least shows that it is shiny on the outside and matte on the inside, but if you turn it over, it's opposite...

The sketch on both sides is from Sketch Thursdays. Here's the left side...

Yes, that is Ansley in the air. It think they call that the "flyer". She was one of the smallest on the team. Of course, that was before she busted her head open in February when she fell off a chair. I guarantee she wouldn't be a flyer if she was in cheerleading right now!! She still has a bump from the fracture and just recently was released to play contact sports. But as I look at this picture, I want to walk up to her an tell her "get down before you bust your head open"!! LOL Gotta love "hindsight"!!

The background paper was a specialty paper from SU from a few years ago. It is Kraft with tiny stripes. Then I randomly stamped a few stamps from an old SU cheerleader set to create a special patterned paper...

I also used "Let's Go Team" from Wags 'n Whiskers...

The image was embossed in black and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge DT - a sketch (my me)

I hope everyone had a wonderful time on the Wags 'n Whiskers blog hop yesterday!! It runs through Sunday, so you still have a chance to win some stamps by commenting on each of the blogs along the hop. I have used another new release stamp today.

It's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. This week's challenge is a Sketch (by me)!! This is my first time creating a sketch! I first created this layout and liked it so I turned it into a sketch...

He's my layout... 

I created a double layout, but the left side follows the sketch...

The flag was created by adding a "banner" shape to a Word document. I increased the size to make it into a flag shape then printed it on white CS. The I enlarged it a little and printed it onto red CS. I stamped a stripe background stamp (sorry, I don't remember where I purchased it from since it was ages ago). Yes, I guess I should have made the stripes red, but I wanted to add more blue to the layout. Last I added some red ric rac from my stash for a pole and some Thickers glitter chipboard letters.

The image is Summer Fun from the Wags 'n Whiskers Fun in the Sun release....

The stamp was embossed in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os. This image was designed after my daughter Ansley and illustrated by Cris de Lara.

I have a ton of pictures from our first trip to Daytona Beach, FL so I added some of the beach photos in a collage using some of the same elements but no stamping on this side...

  
In case you were wondering, in the top right photo (under the title), Ansley is holding up a shell filled with some sort of watersnail. They were all over! They would wash up with a wave and as soon as the water receded back into the ocean, they would burrow themselves into the sand. Over and over they would do this with each wave. In the center picture, Ryan is trying to dig one out that burrowed in the sand. In the bottom left photo, Ryan is holding a shell to a mini crab (just the shell, not crab was in it). And in the top center picture, Ryan is pretending to be an airplane and is flying with the seagulls.

I still have a ton of pictures from this trip. Scott had to work for the Coke Zero Race at the Daytona Speedway (obviously Coca-Cola is a sponor of that race), so we didn't see much of him that weekend. But he was staying on the beach at the Plaza Resort so he just HAD to tag along!!

Hello stamping friends! I hope you are having a lovely start to your weekend! I stayed up really late last night to watch Avatar...great movie. But I'm in slow motion this morning and I'm late getting this up.

GCD studios has provided a great scrapbook pack for one lucky participant to receive.

They also generously provided the DT with some papers from this same pack to use on our layout. I was able to use 2 of them, but I still have a ton left over so I will try to make a card or another layout with them soon. Thank you so much GCD Studios!

Here is my layout including the debossing technique...

The "K" which stands for Kindergarten is debossed. I used clear embossing powder over watercolor paper. Since the paper has a yellowish tint (and I heated it so many time), it gave it this great antiqued look. I also added a little chocolate chip ink around the edges, too.

To bring out the letter better, I added some Shimmerz. As you can see, it beaded off of the outside before it dried for a washed out look. I really like how it turned out!

I also added some punched flowers around the "white space" of the cardstock to use as a masking template and gently sprayed Shimmerz Vibez. This created a custom DP affect!

The butterflies and the stamp are from the first Greeting Farm Scrapbook kit called Spotlight. I will make a card using this kit soon, but since TGF is having a scrapbook challenge this week, I thought I would use it on a layout first.

Other supplies used:

Paper: SU Whisper White CS, GCD DP, Watercolor paper

Stamp: SU Well Worn Letters (retired), TGF Spotlight Kit

Embellishments: Lillyput Prima Roses, Prima Mini Roses, Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft Pearls, American Crafts Thickers, Silk Ribbon, shimmerz, Shimmerz Vibez, flower punch, and border punch.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday (late) - Something "different"

I am so late posting this!! I finished the layout on friday night, but was dealing with so many things today (including a date night with my hubby), that I didn't get to post this yet.

However, I need to make it quick...

The fun challenge at Scrap and Stamp Saturday this week is "non-traditional srap item to your layout". To explain better, I took this from the challenge blog post...

Which basicly means anything that you didn't buy in the scrap section...lol. It can be aluminum foil, coffee filter, tissue paper, wall paper, tree bark, anything at all. As long as it isn't something that you would normally use on a page. It can be a little or alot . What can your imagination come up with? Now if you are worried about things not being acid free you can use archival spray or don't let it touch your pictures. I know this will be more of a challenge for some than others, but that's what it is all about right?

And remember your layout must contain at least one stamp.

Here is my layout...

This was my daughter's 2nd time on Space Mountain.

The "different" items I used from the sponsor is the map (I thought it could like like the rocket in space with the earth below) and the wire mesh.

This is one of those horrible pictures that they take of you while you are on the ride. Ansley's eyes are wide as can be as she is sliding down in her seat. And (of course) it can't be a worst angle shot of me!! LOL

 

The right side...

The picture outside of Space Mountain was taken with my iphone before we went inside. The other picture is of Ansley waiting next to get on the ride. That is a very "I'm not sure about this smile" she has going there!!

 

The layout for the right side is one of the April layouts for Scrappy Sunday at Paper Craft Planet.

I punched out some left over "map" from the sponsor and added them to the layout.

this stamp is Dragon's Destiny for High Hopes Rubber Stamps. He's embossed in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.

 

I added glossy accents to his helmet...

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge - A sketch challenge

How is your weekend so far? We ended up going to the Florida Marlins' Opening Night Baseball game!! It was a lot of fun. But since I seem to have caught the cold Ryan had over Easter weekend, I am really quite tired and would to go to bed....after I write this post!!

This week we have a fun sponsor at Scrap and Stamp Saturday...

The stamping Boutique has a wonderful store filled with digital and rubber stamps. They provided the DT with some digi's to play with on our layouts this week!! I had a hard time choose...then I fell in love and knew exactly what I was going to do!!

This week's challenge is another sketch! I LOVE sketch challenges...especially for scrapbooking.

 Here's my layout...

When I saw this cute Tooth Fairy Cynthia stamp, I knew it would be perfect for my layout this week! Ansley lost her first took in August so I took a few pictures!!

The one on the left was taken right after it fell out. The picture on the right was taken the following morning...she was so happy with her first visit from the tooth fairy!! The tooth fairy was a little generous with her gift ($10.00)since Ansley cried quite a bit (after the picture on the left was taken). I don't think she expected to see blood!! LOL

This cute little fairy was printed on the computer onto watercolor paper, then watercolored with Twinkling H2Os...

Sorry, it's a little blurry, I have a hard time getting good photos lately!

In the small circle on the bottom left of the photo above, you can see the tooth in Ansley's hand. I am really surprised at how tiny it was! I guess the roots die off (which is probably why they fall out).

I think she has now lost a total of 5 teeth so far.

Ok...now it's your turn!! Let's see what you do with this sketch! If you don't have any fancy scalloped paper, you can use just a regular regtangle/square or create your own with one of those Martha Stewart "all around" punches (or whatever they are called).

Ansley and I have a "girls day out" planned! We are going to Sweet n Sassy for a mini manicure and pedicure and updo. Then we will grab some lunch together.

Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge - Sports or Outdoor Activity

Hey there! I hope you had fun on the Wags 'n Whiskers Blog Hop yesterday. If you didn't hop along, there is still time, the blog hop will be open until Monday morning. Go check it out.

In the mean time, it's time for another Scrap and Stamp Saturday Challenge. And this week my store Stamp and Create is sponsoring the challenge...so you will see a few more of the new Wags 'n Whiskers "Let's Play" Release on some of the DT layouts today.

The prize this week is...

For my layout, I used the new Go for Goal image...

This was professional photo package provided by the soccer organization. Since Daddy was coach, they got a picture of Ryan and Scott as well.

The soccer ball in the background is from Stampin' Up (not sure if it's still active or retired yet). On the white CS, it was stamped in Black. On the Green CS, it was stamped in SU Wild Wasabi so no DP used on this layout. It's hard to tell in the photo, but over the black strip under the photos, there is a strip of Olive Net Ribbon. It adds great texture in real life and almost looks like grass!

I embossed the image in black onto watercolor paper and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os...

I created a tag by cutting off the top corners, then adding a punched circle and Basic Grey Button. Then I added some punched stars and more buttons.

For the title, I used some American Crafts Thickers Glitter Chipboard Stickers. They are perfect for adding titles...

This is my 3rd layout using the Wags 'n Whiskers Let's Play Release stamps. They really are perfect for scrapbook layouts as well as cards.

To show you the versatility, here is a card I made using this same stamp...Go for Goal...

This is actually the card I created to give to Coach Scott (aka Daddy) from the team for the end of the season game. All of the parents/kids signed the card.

But now you can see just how versatile these stamps really are. I hope you will go check out the blog hop AND come play along with our challenge!!
