New York Trip Day 2

Hello stamping friends!!

Things are still crazy for me with the kids home for Summer Break. I haven't had much time to do any crafting. Next week we are going to Orlando for a few days. And my Sales Taxes are due for the store. So basically that means that any crafting time is now going to be spent on taxes (boo, hiss).

So I thought it would be a good time to show you Day 2 of our trip to New York City a few weeks ago.

On Monday, it was a rainy day. We knew that it would be so we planned that day for a little shopping in the morning so we could stay indoors. It actually ended up being a mostly nice day.

Our first stop...the huge 3 story M&M Store in Times Square!!

Elvis is a little "blue"...Blue M&M that is!! 

The store was filled with EVERYTHING M&M: pillows, stuffed toys, candy dispensers in every shape and form (we purchased a Statue of Liberty Green M&M dispenser), office supplies, suit cases, and even a $3,000 jacket made with Swarovski crystals!! I didn't take a picture but I found one online here.

They also had a "Color scanner". You stand under it and it tells you what "color" M&M you are! Ryan was Silver and Ansley was Pink. 

Next up we went across the street to the Hershey's store where they had the "world's larger Hershey's Bar and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!! I don't know the price of the Hershey's bar, but the Reese's cup was $14 and was VERY heavy!! I bought one for my friend who loves Peanut Butter (let's not mention that Scott didn't know I bought it for her so he opened it when we got home and ate one)!!! 

We also went back to Toys R Us and FAO Schwarz but I didn't take picture again. 

On our way back to the hotel to rest up for a little, we stopped into the St. Patrick's Cathedral (opened in 1959). 

It was under construction and there was a service going on so we didn't stay long. 

But the kids lit a candle for their Grandma and Papa. 

We had tickets to the Yankee Stadium for a baseball game so after we rested some, we hopped on the Subway and headed to the Bronx...

We got there very early so the gates wen't open yet. 

Once the gates were opened, we grabbed some dinner and threw a few balls...

Next we made the long trek to the 3rd level to find our seats...

It was raining so we hung out under cover for awhile.

We took these pictures before we headed to our seats. The field was covered during the rain. You can't even see our seats in this picture, but they were to the left way out in the outfield.

Here is a view of the field from our seats!! We were UP there!! But the funny thing is that we weren't even on the top level!! It is a huge and nice stadium.

It was "Hat day" so we each for a free hat!! Scott is a Boston Red Sox fan and since they are arch rivals, he wouldn't wear his hat!!

I swear I crack up every time I see this picture!! Ryan was trying to "show your guns" so he would be on the big screen. He was straining so hard that he scrunched his face all up and he looks scary!!

I'm still alive!! New York trip day 1

Hello stamping friends!!

Well I am still alive. Did you miss me? As I posted last, I was on vacation for 5 days in New York City 2 weeks ago. Once we returned I had a ton of work to do then the 4th of July Holiday hit and then I was just too plain pooped to blog! I have been working but the kids were not in any camps last week so I had to entertain them full time. They are in an art camp this week for half-days so hopefully I can get some more work done. 

I have a craft project scheduled for tomorrow's High Hopes challenge but thought I would share some pictures from our trip to New York with you today. 

Here are some pictures from Day 1 of our trip... 

We had an early flight. We had to leave the house at 5am!! You can see Ryan taking a little nap on the plane.

We stayed in Times Square so, of course, it was one of the first sites we got to see. We had to take a picture in front of the Coca-Cola sign! My husband works for Coca-Cola.

While we were in Times Square, we made a stop in the 4 story Toys R Us store for a ride on the Ferris Wheel. Ryan was in there too, but he wasn't happy that we ended up in the Barbie cart so he's hiding (you can see some of his green shirt). Scott stayed out to take a picture.

Next up we walked to the Empire State Building. It is currently the tallest building in NYC (since the new Freedom Tower is not completed yet). 

I took pictures from all 4 sides from the Observation deck...

Looking South (above). The tall buildings are the the Financial District with the tallest building being the new Freedom Tower (replacing the buildings that collapsed during the September 11th attack). You can barely see the Statue of liberty on the Island to the right of Freedom Tower. 

I held my camera over the side (strapped to my wrist of course) to get a shot of what it looked like below!!...

Look at the TOPS of those buildings!! Can you find the cars below?

Looking West (New Jersey is across the river).

This is looking down to the West. You can see the red banner on the Macy's building towards the right.

This one is facing North. Can you find Central Park?

And looking East (although, I think this is more Southeast).

And looking down on the East side (check out all of those ants)!!

After the Empire State building, we took our first subway to Central park...

We walked around Central park a little and rode the Carousel...

The carousel is over 100 years old!! Although it's not original to this location. But "a" carousel has been in this space since 1871!! 

After our quick stop at Central Park, we headed to Park Ave towards FAO Schwarz...

The kids had a blast in the store and playing on the "Big Piano" (from the movie "Big")...

From there we walked down Park Avenue and stopped into the American Girl Store...

Ansley bought a new dress for her American Girl doll and I bought a matching dress for Ansley to wear. Then we booked Brunch for later in the week. Scott took Ryan to the NBA store across the street because he wasn't impressed with the doll store!!

We went back to the hotel to rest before going to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square...

That's where we learned that getting a booth next to a tv playing classic rock videos were not necessarily "kid friendly". The kids got to see videos from my day (the 80's) of "Doctor Feel-good", Prince's "Kiss", Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion", Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on me", etc...!! Wow! Lots of sex and drugs in those videos!!

And on the way back to the hotel, we got a view of the Naked Cowboy...

Of course, I prefer my own little "naked cowboy"...
