Well, it's time for another birthday party! Ansley and Ryan's birthdays are only 5 weeks apart. So, we handed out Thank You cards from Ansley's birthday and Ryan's Birthday Party Invitations at the same time!
Ryan is ALL about Lightning McQueen. Everything he owns, he names Lightning!! His Turtle..."Lightning"; His first Webkinz (a spotted Leopard)..."Lighting", etc...
So, I have to give him a Lightning McQueen birthday party this year!!
For the front, I embossed Lighting from an inexpensive stamp set that I got at Michaels or AC Moore (I can't remember which, but I think I've seen it at both stores). Then I colored him using straight SU Markers. On the background, I stamped "Print Pattern" (retired SU) in Real Red onto Real Red CS. That was sewed to a black mat.
Since I always go for the "Wow" factor with my kids' birthday invitations, this one has a little surprise...
It's a "Surprise Pop-up card"!! When you pull the tab, Lightning McQueen pops up to reveal the party information (since I don't have a photo editing program yet, I put a white circle over our address and phone number).
On the front of the invitation, it says..."Start your "party" engines".
On the top part (pull out) is says...
"Lightning McQueen, waterslides and more
It's all because Ryan's turning 4!!
Don't forget your bathing suit and towel...
There will be plenty of food
to feed your engine growl."
On the bottom part, it has all of the party information (date, time, address, etc).
Here is a close up picture of the image...
You call can go to SCS to get a tutorial on Surprise Pop Up cards, but I adjusted the dimensions on mine a little. The tutorial on SCS has a solid front cover, I added a mat, so my front CS is smaller and therefore, the cut and score lines are different as well. I am hoping to be able to make a tutorial to share with you with my revised dimensions. So stay tuned.
I wanted to point out that when we made this card at my Stamp Club, the girls actually said they "Hated" it!! Wow!! That's a little harsh! They said it was just too complicated (and they didn't like the color combo...but I was trying to showcase some of the new SU "in-colors"). Seriously, this is not that hard to make. I mean, I just made 15 of them!! It must not be THAT bad!!
Thanks for stopping by!
