Hi there stamping friends! I hope you are having a lovely weekend! So far it's been great. Ansley's soccer team had their last game yesterday and Ryan's team has their last game today...so lots of cupcakes, ice cream and trophies this weekend!!
I won't lie...I had a bit of a problem with my card yesterday!! But here it is...
I was so excited to play with the new butterfly set from PTI that my blogging friend Niki Estes designed (her first stamp set), so I picked an image that would work with one of the butterfly backgrounds. The sketch is from Friday Sketchers this week.
I stamped the butterflies along the background in SU pumpkin pie onto Very Vanilla CS. I added that to a layer of MMW DP. Then I added the brown strip which is actually DP from Basic Grey Nook and Pantry, added one of the new Crochet lace and some Basic Grey Pearls for the sketch.
The image was where I came up with the problem...I embossed Bethany Angel and watercolored it with twinkling H2Os (like I always do). Then I decided I wanted to try the "cracked glass" technique by embossing over the complete image with clear embossing powder a few times, letting it cool, then cracking the embossed front. Well...I did 4 layers and nothing...it's just a "bendy" almost rubbery paper!!
Since I didn't have time to totally redo my card...and the image looked a little "worn"...I decided to go with a vintage feel for the card. I sprayed the whole thing with Shimmerz Spritz Mud Pie (brownish in color) all over which toned down the vanilla card stock and added a bunch of shimmer.
For the circle element (which I almost forgot), I inked up one of the small doilies with Chocolate chip ink, added the image (with scor-tape, then with some staples), then added some primas. I inked the trellis prima with some mudpie shimmerz spritz (since it was too white), and the yellow mini roses with angel wings shimmerz.
So just to give you an idea of what my image looked like with the embossing...here's a picture taken with a flash...
Nice and glossy, but not "broken glass"!! I'm not sure what I did wrong.
Oh, well...I may try again another day!!
Back to the challenge...if you would like to play along, make sure to link your card to Mr. Linky in the challenge post for the chance to win Norman Goat. And if you link your card to SCS, use keywork HHC65.
Thanks for stopping by!Happy Stamping!
