I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We are heading back home today so pray that we have a safe trip.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I hosted the "Child Swap" craft night with my Bible Study. For a few weeks, one couple would watch all the kids, do a fun craft, then watch a Christmas show while the other couples had some time away to finish Christmas shopping, go out to dinner, or just have some quiet time. On the night I had the kids, we made the picture plaques below...
I pre-painted small wood plaques with a tan acrylic paint. I let the kids help die-cut the brown mat for the photo using the SU Top Note sizzix die. Then they painted on modge podge all over the wood, then they placed the mat on and added more modge podge, then I helped them center the photo, then they added more modge podge over the pictures.
After it was dry, I helped then add flowers, buttons, and ribbon using a hot glue gun (since the glue is hot, I had then "drop" the flower and buttons in place, and I pushed them down onto the glue).
When everything was finished, I thread the ribbon through the holes that my husband drilled into each plaque.
The craft store didn't have enough of the square frames so my kids used the larger ones. Here is the one that Ansley made...
Here is the one Ryan made (he didn't want any "girly" flowers"...
All of the photos used were wallet sized. These were so easy to make and I love how they turned out. You can make these with any room/color theme or you can make one for different occasions to hang during the holidays like Christmas, Easter, Halloween...or you can make them with different Seasons like Spring (easter picture), summer (beach or water fun), Fall (with leaves) or Winter ( snow picture).
Or you can even make one for birthdays! These would also make great Mother's Day gifts for the grandmothers! or for Grandparent's day! Or you could make a baby theme with a picture of a new baby as a gift....maybe a new big brother or big sister could help make it?!
If you ever decide to make one, I would love to see it!!
Thanks for stopping by!
