Here is another layout for the baby scrapbook I made for my husband's corworker (here is a link to the other posts).
I have to say that this is one of my favorite layouts in the book (in addition to 10 months and Welcome Baby layouts...these are a few of the layouts I did later in the process so you can see how my scrapbooking skills have gotten a little better).
I usually start working on the right side of these layouts first since that is where most of the pictures will be. Then I make the left side to coordinate. So, I will start with the right side today. I used a layout I saw on Ali Miles' Blog here for inspiration. I just loved how she placed the pictures on the page while preparing to scrap and kept the pictures where they "fell"!
Since this book is an "add your own pictures" scrapbook, I created mats where I wanted the pictures to "fall" like in the inspiration piece. In order to layer the pictures, I adheared the top two mats to the page, but only adheared the bottom half of the bottom mat so that she could slip pictures underneith the bottom mat.
In my creative growth, I wanted to create my own designer paper. The original paper had the pink and yellow plaid design, but I added the yellow swirls using SU Barouqe Motifs stamped in So Saffron along with SU Spunky Spots wheel (which is retiring on August 11th) also wheeled randomly in So Saffron ink.
For the title, I used a piece of Very Vanilla CS and stamped using Motifs, Well Worn Numbers and Best Friends Lower (also retiring on Aug 11th). I inked up the edges and added a SU 5/8" Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon. You can also see a little more of the stamped detail in the background of this picture. Side Note* I can't figure out why my pictures stopped adding pop-ups!! I either get part of the picture missing on the right side, or I don't have a pop-up option!!
The left side...
I really had a great time making this book. What I really love the most is seeing how I grew in my scrapbooking over the time it took me to make this book!! So, thank you to all of you bloggers out there that offer sketch layouts!! I am hoping to be able to start creating my own sketches soon. I guess that means I have to get Photoshop or some other software. I am one of those people who don't have much computer skills so I still don't even have a watermark on my pictures!! So if anyone has any recommendations on software that is easy to use that can make watermarks as well as sketch layouts, let me know!!
I still have a few more posts on this Baby Scrapbook that I will post soon.
Thanks for stopping by!
