A friend in the neighborhood gave me a challange. She wanted a Monster Truck invitation for her son's 3rd birthday party. Since I don't have an actual Monster Truck stamp, I came up with a few suggestions.... "By Land" stamp set or "Loads of Love" with the tires from the tractor of By Land. She chose the "Loads of Love" version with a color combination of "bright blue, orange, and lime green". Here are 3 options I gave her...
The first design I used came from this card I found on Splitcoast using the By Land set. I liked the black road and using the striped DP from East Coast Prep. The card base is Brialliant Blue, with a Gable Green mat, and the truck is colored with Pumpkin Pie. I added the presents and boy in the truck as an option, and added a roll-bar to the back of the truck since most monster trucks have some sort of roll-bar. I stamped two tractor wheels from the By Land set, cut them out, and attached them with dimensionals.
The next option is more of a "realistic" look with a sky in the background. I have seen technique used on a few blogs. I took a SU scallop punch as a template, and sponged around the scallop randomly with Bashful Blue onto Whisper White paper to get the appearance of a sky. For this card, I used dimensionals with paper adheared to both sides so it wouldn't stick to the tires to pop it out a little. Then I took black brads and attached the wheel to the card so that the tires can rotate. This is actually my favorite of the three designs.
The last option is the one she chose for her invitations. I used the dotted paper from "Summer Picnic" for the background. I know, not exactly a summer picnic theme, but the colors and circles went well with the "tire" theme.
For the final card, I embossed the truck, water colored it, and added the roll-bar. I embossed the tires as well attached with brads so that they can rotate. I have changed the name to my son's for her privacy, but my friend created the wording "Let's get into gear to celebrate "Ryan's" 3rd year".
What a cute little boy's birthday invitation! I love a challenge...and I love the final result. So, which one is your favorite?
